As a specialist in childhood issues, I have been helping children feel great about themselves
and become self-motivated to maximize their potential for more than 20 years. I take an active role in meeting and exceeding
the standards of my profession. I enjoy being able to provide a high level of service in a very personal way. My goal is to
always have the time available to treat people as individuals, with trusting relationships being a top priority. More importantly,
I am always available to answer your questions and keep you updated on treatment progress.
I earned a Master of
Arts in Psychology at Houston Baptist University, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, Houston, Texas. I majored
in Counseling while additionally pursuing specialties in School Psychology and Play Therapy. I received my Bachelor of Science
degree in Education while additionally pursuing a specialty in Special Education from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa,
Alabama in 1978. I currently hold Life Certification with the Texas State Board for Educators in the following areas: Elementary

I am also registered as a Play Therapist/Supervisor (RPT-S) by the Association of Play Therapy. This means that I completed
over 150 hours of play therapy specific coursework, and completed a rigorous supervision of 350 hours of direct play therapy
experience. I currently am in private practice as a psychotherapist serving Harris, Montgomery and Ft. Bend counties and work
as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with a major metropolitan independent school district.
My specialty
interests in my private practice include working in the areas of play therapy, parent coaching/filial therapy, positive
behavior management, stress or anxiety, trauma, grief issues, and attachment disruptions. As a school psychologist I
provide diagnostic assessment and comprehensive individual evaluations, counseling as a related service, and proactive
"Response to Intervention" strategies for students in my school district to help them be successful. To
keep abreast of the latest research based therapeutic interventions I frequently attend continuing education seminars. Accordingly,
I have available a handout that includes my training, affiliations, and continuing education, should you desire additional
information on my professional background.
I know how imperative it is for both children and their parents to play
to their strengths. If your child or adolescent is struggling at home, school, or with relationships, maybe it’s time
to talk to a caring therapist who listens and understands.

At different
points in our lives we all need some help getting through difficult times and overcoming obstacles that get in the way of
reaching our goals and attaining happiness. I work to provide a supportive, positive and safe environment where clients feel comfortable exploring
the challenges in their lives and ways in which to work through them. I help clients to evaluate their personal needs and
determine their unique strengths as they work towards utilizing those strengths to navigate through rough waters and ultimately
live a more fulfilling life.
I earned my
Master of Arts in School Health Education from Adelphi University in New York and my Master of Education degree in Counseling
Psychology from the University of Houston. I have worked as a Health Teacher and a School Counselor
in both middle and high school settings. As a School Counselor, I facilitated psychoeducational support groups that
addressed issues relating to self-esteem, relational concerns with family, communication and social skills building, bullying,
academics, coping skills for dealing with life stressors, anger management and conflict resolution, and healthy dating
relationships.
Through working at a suicide prevention /crisis intervention agency I gained experience working with individuals
suffering
from depression and other
mood disorders, anxiety,
grief and loss and those in acute crisis. In addition to seeing clients at Newman Clinical Associates, I also work
with adolescents at a residential treatment facility. .
As a PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator, I work with couples
to prepare them for marriage and help already committed couples to enhance their relationship. The program I use helps couples
to explore strengths and growth areas within the relationship, strengthen communication skills, and develop a more balanced
relationship. PREPARE/ENRICH is based on principles from couple and family strength models and prevention
oriented approaches. .
I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association and am supervised by Beverly Newman, LPC-S, LSSP, RPT-S.
