YOUR FIRST VISIT

We are delighted to welcome you to Newman Clinical Associates and the Sandlot Counseling Center. We are honored that you have chosen us for your counseling needs and look forward to getting to know your family!

We understand life can be difficult under the best circumstances and are serious about providing counseling services that have positive life changing benefits. Our goal is to provide the most comprehensive and personalized care possible to facilitate a satisfying therapeutic experience for your child or adolescent. It is our hope that with counseling, guidance, and the right type of encouragement, parenting can be fun again for you!

We’ve set aside special time during your first visit to get acquainted, hear your family’s history, learn the unique story of your child, and discuss your concerns. The first session is for adults only. The purpose of our initial parent consultation will be to develop a uniquely designed treatment plan to meet your family’s needs. It is not always necessary to know how your child has developed the emotional or behavioral issues he or she has, but it is important to discover ways to change or work with those issues. Please plan to spend approximately one hour with us for an intake interview, discussion of treatment recommendations, and review the financial aspects of treatment.

You will need to fill out some paperwork prior to the first visit. In order to expedite your appointment, please plan to bring your completed Intake Information Packet that has been provided to you. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or refer to our website for additional information.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. If you are unable to make the parent consultation or any future appointments, it is important to call me at least 48 hours in advance so that I may reschedule your appointment for a more convenient time and make your previous time available for another family. Unlike many practices, when I make an appointment, a specific block of time is saved explicitly for you. If you miss an appointment, the time is unused and unavailable to others.

You will be charged the full fee-for-service amount of the visit if less than 48 hours notice is given or a scheduled appointment is missed. You will not be held to this policy if there is a death in the family, the individual is hospitalized, or if an illness occurs suddenly that prevents the individual from attending school, work, or all of their normal daily activities. If you have any questions about these policies please feel free to discuss them with me. I believe these policies are necessary to provide you with the highest standard of clinical care. Thank you for your understanding.
